Reflection on Grief

My tears for you are pearls
The sharp edges of grief, diamonds
The weight on my shoulders
Is worth its weight in gold
Eyes ruby-red from crying.

Is wealth measured by loss?
Is joy measured by sorrow?
Can it be that love is
Measured in blood and tears?

For the joy before Him, He died
Life was bought with death.
Anyone who loves truly, bleeds:
The priceless treasure of a full and broken heart.

Blessed are those who mourn
For as imperfect, human love pours out,
True, perfect love pours in
And they are comforted.

Peter

My little wooden vessel, it sits upon the waves
The sides are rocking fiercly,
"But its safe in here," I say

But I hear my name through the wind
A voice is calling me,
It beckons me to follow. "Come to me," it says.

I look down at the dark, cold sea
I tremble, quite afraid.
But I take a step outside the boat, water cold beneath my feet.

And there, on the horizon, the voice who calls me stands,
Unafraid and strong.
He treads the waves like they're dry land.

I take my faltering steps, my gaze on Him affixed
But the wind is raging,
And looking down, I slip

Down into the dark abyss, I can feel myself sinking
The waves they smother me,
I wonder what I was thinking

In panic, I cry out His name,
His strong hand reaches down
And grips mine; He pulls me above the waves

"Why do you doubt?"
He asks me,
And what answer can I give?

I respond the only way I can,
I worship the One who Lives.

Storm

Why must it rain?
Blue sky turns grey, clouds rolling
Thunder crashing,
Lightning flashes
Rain falls.

It is cold
And wet
And dark
Teardrops pour,
Blinding me.

I can’t see the sun,
The light is veiled
From view.

Is there still light, when I can’t see it?

Beneath the earth, life stirs.
Dead roots begin to flower,
And stretch
And grow,
Watered with tears,
In the rich soil of pain.

Then the clouds roll back,
Revealing the sky,
It is still there.
The sun is still there.

Now the earth is alive
Quiet broken
Stillness shattered
By life.

He lives, and therefore, so do I.

Reflection on Life

Thanks to Bella Sellers for the beautiful picture!

Credit to Bella Sellers for the beautiful picture!

What is it to live?
Is it to breathe air
A heart beating,
A mind racing,
A pulse throbbing?

Is it to risk, to dare, to jump?
Is it to feel the adreneline of the fall?

Is it steady ground,
A solid home,
A constant friend,
A cornerstone?

Is it in beauty,
music,
art?

To fall in love,
A sunset's start?

Living takes many forms,
But to truly live has only one.

To live is to be loved,
To live is to be cherished.

To live is to drown in the
powerful ocean of Another's
powerful pursuit.

To live is to feel broken,
To live is to be healed.

To live is for Another to die and to rise.
To live is receiving his gift, eternal life.

To live is to die
To oneself
To the world
To sin

To live is to rise,
at life's last cry,
To live is to be with Him.

John 3:16: "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."

“The Song”

When the world was fresh and green and new, the heavens rang with song, and it echoed through the mountain tops and the whole earth sang along.

It was a song of beauty and wonder and truth, that filled the skies above, it was a song that every creature knew, and its singer's name was Love.

Now, the world is no longer green and new, it is broken and undone. But the song once sang has not been silenced. Indeed, it still is sung.

And if you listen carefully, you can hear its glorious sound, and the voice of it's Creator, whose love still yet abounds.

In the summer wind as it passes by, in the warmth of the bright sun, when all is good and well with you, and your joy freely runs.

When that song rings inside your heart, and you feel His love for you, you hear that melody inside your soul, and you know it to be true.

Peace! be still and listen close, to the song that you hear ringing, for in our joy and radiance, the Lord over us is singing.

When all is dark inside and out, and suddenly it's hard to see, when the wind and waves toss you about, and bring you to your knees,

When all you know is fear and doubt, that song is still repeated, for even when it's hard to hear, He won't let you be defeated.

Peace! be still and quiet your heart, to hear the song still ringing, for even in trials and suffering, the Prince of Peace is singing.

When we are in awe and worshipful, of our Creator's glory, when the staggering truth of who He is, becomes a song that tells His story,

When you fall to your knees speechless, before the eternal King, and in wonder and amazement, with all heaven His praise you sing,

Peace! be still and join in, with the angel's ceaseless singing, for in our worship and wonderment, the King of King's praise is ringing.

When on this journey you stumble, lose your sight and lose the way, when you make the wrong decision and are guilty of many mistakes.

When your guilt and shame is crippling, and you fear that it's too late, His sacrifice becomes a song that washes away your stains.

Peace! be still and don't forget, the song of Love is ringing, for even over sinners, the Spotless Lamb is singing.

When your heart is slowing, when you breathe your final breath, to His presence you are going, and forever with Him you'll rest,

When you go to meet the Creator, when you see Him face to face, and the song you heard a shadow of bursts out in full refrain,

Peace! be still, rejoice and hear, in full, the song that's ringing, the song of Love and beauty that the Lord was always singing.

And when the world is made anew, and all creation is redeemed, the earth will sing it's native tune, in harmony with it's King.
